Correspondent, 24 October: The Crime Branch has launched a detailed investigation into 23 prominent builders accused of misappropriating 814 flats and 71,134 square meters of developed plots. These properties were specifically reserved for economically weaker sections under the inclusive housing scheme.

Commissioner of Police Pravin Pawar took serious cognizance of a complaint filed by MHADA Chief Officer Vaibhav Kedare. Following a report submitted by MHADA's Chief Vigilance and Security Department, the Police Commissioner directly handed over the preliminary inquiry to the Crime Branch.

The investigation is being led by Police Inspector Gajanan Kalyankar, who has instructed relevant MHADA authorities to appear with the original documents of all the builders named in the complaint. Furthermore, the Crime Branch has summoned officials from the Town Planning and Housing Department of the MHADA Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar board.

Investigators will verify the guarantee letters provided by the 23 developers during the layout approval process. The police will scrutinize how these developers sold 20 percent of the flats and plots directly to customers instead of transferring them to MHADA, as mandated by rule 3.8.2 of UDCPR 2020. The RERA registration information of the projects will also be examined.

Once the technical and legal verification of all these documents is completed, a formal complaint will be lodged through an authorized MHADA official. Subsequently, criminal charges for cheating, breach of trust, and embezzlement will be registered.

The inquiry has highlighted specific projects that failed to surrender the mandated flats. The list includes M/s Namo Realty, through partners Amin Abdulla Surani and Kamruddin Karim Bharwani, involving 23 flats at Gat No. 137 part in Satara, and Dilipkumar Ramanlalji Bakliwal and others concerning 108 flats at Gat No. 39 part in Satara.

Additionally, the list names Samyak Niwas Hakka Sangh, sponsored by Bhim Foundation through President Madhukar Vitthal Suryavanshi and others, for 36 flats at Gat No. 11/2 in Bhavsingpura; Triloksing Tarasing Jarbida for 28 flats at Gat No. 26/part in Shahanurwadi, Mouje Satara; and M/s Piyush Infraprojects Pvt. Ltd. through Pralhad Hariram Panhale, concerning 12 flats at Gat No. 23 and 25/part in Shahanurwadi.
