Correspondent, 23 October: Just days after Smriti Mandhana took over the captaincy of the Indian women's cricket team, two players have bid farewell to international cricket. Following Punam Raut's exit a few days ago, opening batter S. Meghana has now abruptly announced her retirement at the age of just 30, delivering a second blow to the team.

Having made her international debut in 2016, Meghana received limited opportunities to play for India over the past 10 years. Across this entire decade, she featured in only three One Day Internationals and 17 T20 matches.

In her ODI career, Meghana scored 114 runs at an average of 38. Meanwhile, she registered 258 runs in the T20 format. The batter managed to score exactly one half-century in each of these two formats.

In addition to her international career, Meghana also competed in the Women's Premier League. She represented two teams in the league, Gujarat Giants and RCB, accumulating a total of 302 runs at an average of 23.23.

Despite stepping away from international cricket, Meghana will continue to remain active within the sport. She clarified that her focus moving forward will be on teaching cricket and providing guidance to the younger generation.
