Correspondent, 19 October: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the final roster of players for the upcoming Women's Premier League (WPL) 2027 mini-auction. Scheduled to be held on October 28 in Kochi, the auction will see 146 female cricketers vying for just 27 available slots across the five participating franchises.
Out of the 146 shortlisted names, the list features 22 capped Indian players and 14 capped overseas cricketers who have previously represented their countries internationally. Additionally, the auction pool includes 97 uncapped Indian players and 13 uncapped overseas players. The BCCI has set the maximum base price at ₹50 lakh, with the remaining brackets designated at ₹40 lakh, ₹30 lakh, ₹20 lakh, and ₹10 lakh.
The highest reserve price bracket of ₹50 lakh contains only two overseas cricketers. This elite category features Australian captain Sophie Molineux, who was released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore, alongside explosive English batter Sophia Dunkley. Dunkley had previously secured a contract with the Gujarat Giants in 2024.
Significant bidding competition is anticipated in the ₹40 lakh base price segment, which features prominent Indian and Australian stars. Indian power-hitter Kiran Navgire and aggressive wicketkeeper-batter G. Kamalini, recently released by the Mumbai Indians, will go under the hammer in this group. They are joined by the experienced Australian all-rounder duo of Jess Jonassen and Heather Graham.
The ₹30 lakh bracket comprises seasoned match-winners, including Indian off-spin all-rounder Sneh Rana and Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu, who was let go by the Delhi Capitals. Meanwhile, franchises will look to bolster their reserve benches by targeting talented domestic and international uncapped players listed in the ₹20 lakh and ₹10 lakh price categories.
