Correspondent, 22 October: Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has made a strong return to international cricket after 1,430 days during the first match of the ongoing T20 series between India and New Zealand. Taking the field for the game played in Christchurch, he established a new world record as soon as he commenced his bowling spell.

The right-arm pacer delivered dot balls on the first two deliveries of his spell. Through this achievement, he set the world record for bowling the highest number of dot balls in T20 International powerplays. His tally in T20I powerplays now stands at a total of 893 dot balls.

Known for his expertise in delivering scoreless deliveries, Bhuvneshwar also holds the record for bowling the most dot balls in the Indian Premier League (IPL). To date, he has registered 1,944 dot balls in the IPL.

The Christchurch fixture proved to be a highly special occasion for the bowler. He had played his previous international match in the year 2022, which was also against New Zealand. Now, he has marked a successful comeback to the international arena against the very same opponent following a gap of 1,430 days.
