After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, the Indian team watched as New Zealand stepped up to bat. The hosts managed to post a total of 180 for the loss of five wickets in their allotted overs, setting a challenging target.
The run chase initially looked dire for India as they slumped to 70 runs while losing five wickets. However, the game shifted dramatically as three key batters mounted a successful counterattack that stretched into the final over.
