Correspondent, 22 October: Indian explosive batsman Abhishek Sharma established a new world record during the opening match of the T20 series between India and New Zealand, which commenced today. Stepping up to the crease, he opened his account by smashing a towering six on the very first delivery he faced.

Touring New Zealand for the first time to play international cricket, Abhishek provided his team with an aggressive start. He struck this massive six off the bowling of Matt Henry, thereby securing a major milestone.

With this spectacular shot, Abhishek has now become the batsman with the highest number of first-ball sixes in the history of T20 International cricket. At the international level, he has accomplished the feat of hitting a six on the first ball of an innings for the seventh time.

Through this historic achievement, Abhishek has surpassed two prominent players. He broke the previous records held by Afghanistan's Shafiqullah Shinwari, who achieved the feat six times, and India's Suryakumar Yadav, who did it five times. It is currently believed that the likelihood of Abhishek's new record being broken is extremely low.
